Daisy's pace is too much for Ace

 A short ball gives Ace a glimmer of a chance, but Daisy closes the door and snatches the prize. Joey holds back from leaping into deep cold water with a couple bred for this kind of stuff. He's content to adjudicate from the sidelines, which seems wise in retrospect, and even in prospect for that matter.

Ace's long term strategy pays off, however, as he's the first to the flop.
